Poem 82: The Length of a Star

last night

I needed you

to see me home

but had only

the length of a star

to show me the way

but the light

having travelled

so far

got lost

in a tree

and so did I

when I learn

how to ignore

the night sky

or move trees

then I will say

I don’t need you

or the length of a star

to see me home.
