Poem 120: Your Bridge to Me

from my side of the table
your bridge to me
is a playing of light
spinning colours
on a wild minaret
of crystalline and tears
tears as in
the raiment of being
being as in
the dark and light
of balance and power
given to us by the angel
of blind and errant freedoms
for having lost
the chain of hope and binding
that once dutifully broke
under the separating strain
of being a half circle
that once encircled the earth
and bled for the view
from a different star
regained now
as a sorrow bell that rang
kneeling for completion
on a sparkling hill
and stairway of many crossings
to find again for us this ring
of bright stone and dark water
star held and quietly
shining still for this encounter
spaced no longer
by the oceans song
and well met on this
our earth side of rising.
